The Edith Cowan University was building a new City Campus project and it needed structural steel for the several key buildings in the new creative industries portion of the campus. Because the project is located in the heart of Perth, delivering the materials required careful coordination to minimise disruption in a highly populated environment. Ensuring safety during the transport and installation of massive steel components demanded precise planning, attention to detail and effective collaboration with multiple stakeholders.
Lighthouse Engineering was responsible for the manufacture and supply of steel structures and metal works for critical project areas including the Recital Hall, Playhouse Theatre, Dance Theatre, Flexible Theatre, and other areas such as the Aerial Works Studio, Music Rehearsal and Broadcast Studio. To meet the project’s unique requirements, we fashioned various locally resourced steel components precisely to specification. Addressing logistical challenges involved developing a detailed delivery schedule and using specialised equipment for safe transport. Close coordination with local authorities and the prime contractor, ensured minimal disturbances. Our experienced operators utilised advanced lifting techniques to safely deliver each steel girder. Through thorough communication and a commitment to safety, we streamlined the process, reduced risks, and maintained a steady pace for successful project completion.
The effective execution of our logistics plan ensured the on-time delivery of structural steel for the Edith Cowan University City Campus. Our approach enabled uninterrupted progress for Multiplex Construction Pty Ltd, maintaining the project timeline towards its 2025 completion. Lighthouse Engineering’s dedication to precision supported the creation of dynamic cultural spaces, combining structural strength with aesthetic elegance and reinforcing our reputation for excellence in urban steel construction projects.
