About the project

Prime contractor Multiplex was hired by Hesperia to design and build the Murdoch Health and Knowledge Precinct, a comprehensive medical, healthcare, research, educational, and residential development project in Perth, WA.

Multiplex awarded the design coordination, supply, and installation of steel structures including facade support structures and a 30 meter long pedestrian bridge connecting the new building with Fiona Stanley Hospital. Those buildings included a hotel, an aged care facility, medical suites, a mental health hospital, and an office building.

Lighthouse Engineering’s solution

We accepted the contract and started out by 3D modeling the steel components. That work included production of shop drawings for structural steel, façade substructure steel, bridge, staircases, and interior steel refinements. This project includes five connected multi-story buildings, which will house Montserrat’s short-stay private hospital and cancer centre, a 182-bed Aegis Aged Care facility, and Western Australia’s first 80-bed medical hotel. The complex also includes medical suites, residential apartments, childcare facilities, and an underground carpark. It’s expected to be completed late 2023.
