Challenge

Lighthouse Engineering was approached to support the METRONET’s New Midland Station Project, including several ancillary structures such as a Multi-Storey Car Park, Bus Interchange Canopies and the Drivers’ Sign-On Building. Located in a busy transport hub, the project demanded precise planning and advanced engineering to integrate complex steel structures into existing and new infrastructure without disrupting day-to-day operations. Effective coordination with Midland Junction Alliance was crucial to ensure the smooth progression of the works.

Solution

Our scope included 3D modelling, steel detailing and the supply of steel structures. Lighthouse Engineering utilised advanced modelling tools to create precise steel designs tailored for the station, car park and bus interchange facilities. Working with local suppliers, we ensured quality materials and seamless logistics. Close collaboration with Midland Junction Alliance and meticulous planning helped minimise any disruptions to the ongoing operations, enabling safe and efficient construction throughout the project’s timeline.

Outcome

The successful integration of our steel structures into the Cale Street Train Station project has paved the way for a modernised, well-connected transport hub. With completion set for 2025, our detailed modelling and precision-crafted steel components have supported the development’s functional and aesthetic aspects. Lighthouse Engineering’s commitment to quality craftsmanship and logistical excellence has ensured that the new infrastructure blends smoothly with existing facilities, contributing to a vibrant and accessible public transport environment.
